Life has been complicated for Sydney Ross. Desperate for a new start, she leaves home but, during her travels, witnesses something that will forever alter the path of her life. On the run for the last six years, Sydney finds herself living the life of a nomad until she one day stumbles into a small town and hopes she’s finally found a place to put down roots. With a good job in a local diner and, for the first time ever, friends who feel like family, things start looking up for Sydney. The biggest shock of all is catching the eye of the town’s most eligible bachelor, the sexy sheriff, Wade Jenkins.

Sparks fly between them, and it’s not long before Sydney believes Elton, Missouri could be the home she’s always wished for. But Sydney’s past and her secrets have a way of catching up with her. When a brutal murder shakes the small town, Sydney is terrified that the countdown has begun on her time in Elton.

Have the shadows from her past found her again? The people who mean the most want her to stay, but that would put everyone, including her daughter, at risk. Can Sydney put her faith in Wade or will she keep running from a danger that even she doesn’t fully understand?

I inhaled this freaking book.  I mean, I read it in less than a day and it made me stay up very late.  I lost count of how many times I fell asleep and I just kept trying to keep reading.  I finally made myself put my Kindle away around 1:15 AM.  I knew I’d be worthless the next morning if I didn’t throw in the towel.  So, I picked it up early the next morning and finished it off.

What kept kept me so interested you ask?  A great suspenseful storyline and the build up of the relationship between the MCs just kept reeling me in.  I had to know when Wade and Sydney were going to kiss and finally do the deed.  I LOVED Wade, he was my kind of guy.  He was quiet and a little brooding and geez…the guy just did it for me.  Y’know?

Wade Jenkins would definitely be a slice of mouth-watering heaven.  At 6’2, he was a head turner for sure.  His deep brown hair was a touch on the long side, hanging just over his ears with a sexy curl above his brow.  His chiseled jaw and mysterious eyes were enough to make even the strongest woman swoon.

Sydney was pretty kick ass heroine.  She had her moments where I wanted to shake her but for the most part I enjoyed her and her sweet daughter, Faith.  She sacrificed a lot to keep Faith safe and it was interesting to see how Wade reacted to Faith.  I enjoyed the mystery and suspense of this book.  It kept me reading and guessing!!  The end, when everything came to a head, it felt like I was watching a movie.  I kept wondering…what was going to happen? How would this all get resolved?
